DIY Inspiration from a Local Antique and Consignment Store

Antique and consignment stores are filled with DIY inspiration — old wooden cabinets you can repurpose and refinish in your own style, chairs carrying loads of character but just in need of a new cushion, vintage knick-knacks you can keep as-is or convert into other household accessories, retro fabrics you can sew into clothes or pillows. It’s good for me, but bad for my wallet, that Potomac West Antiques and Not Too Shabby Antiques and Consignments are just a couple blocks from my house. I walk past the stores on my way home from work every night, always on the look-out for new treasures on display. So in anticipation of their annual store-wide holiday sale this Saturday, December 10, here’s a little sneak preview of some of the goodies you can find.
