My Favorite Flea Finds at Home

My Favorite Flea Finds at Home

If you spend time digging through the MV Big Flea warehouse or are patient enough to wait for new donations to come in, you’re bound to find great stuff at a great price. Over the years, I’ve purchased a lot at the MV Big Flea (and donated some of it back when we no longer needed it). Here’s a few of my favorite flea finds in their new home.

This is one of my first purchases back when the warehouse was in Arlandria (now home to the ABC store). I actually found a second one in the same style that I later donated back because I didn’t think I needed two.

This year, my Flea art purchases include this embroidered pair of birds on a tree (the little runner on the green table came from the Flea too) and a tropical wood painting.

This dresser was a curb find, but the top has puffy paint graffiti. I found this rug/wall hanging at the Flea that was just the right size to hide the damage.

There is always a wide selection of china at the warehouse — I got this set of four dinner and salad plates and bowls three years ago and still use it almost every day.

When we moved into our current house two years ago, my youngest son needed a rug and a dresser and I saw these while volunteering on the Flea Friday set-up day. Despite a few scratches on the top of the dresser, it’s in very good condition. He also has a wood bookcase in his room, purchased at this year’s Flea.

Last week I purchased this farm table for our patio. The patio is long and narrow and I had been looking for something that would seat more people than our current round table — this one will fit 8. The legs need to be shortened and stained and I will have to weather-proof the entire thing before it can stay outside.

And finally (but not mine), I spotted this amazing fixer upper dresser and an adult trike at the warehouse last weekend. I love them but since I really have no need for either, I didn’t buy them. The wood is solid and the drawers work fine, it just needs a deep sanding and staining. How fun would it be to ride the trike to the farmers market every Saturday.

The Flea warehouse is located at 444 Swann Ave. and will be open for shopping this Saturday, March 17 from 10am – 1pm and then again on Sunday, April 8 from 2-5pm. The main event will take place on Saturday, April 28 at 7 am. All sales benefit the Mount Vernon Community School in Del Ray.
