Parks and Rec: Jefferson-Houston Playground and Field

Parks and Rec: Jefferson-Houston Playground and Field

Construction on the Jefferson-Houston playground and turf field ended earlier this year, but I visited for the first time last weekend for my son’s soccer game. It’s a fabulous addition to the neighborhood and worth a visit even if your kids don’t attend the school.

The field faces Cameron Street with parking along the street or in the lot behind the Old Town Pool. It’s also a block away from King Street Metro.

In addition to the enormous turf field, there are three gated playground areas, a basketball court, several shade sails covering picnic tables and educational signs along the path.

We’re looking forward to a great season of soccer here at Jefferson-Houston!

  1. I love it too but they need to install some drinking fountains! Can’t believe they neglected to do that. Maybe it’s not too late.

    • Completely agree! I kept noticing these things that looked like water fountains but was disappointed they were just decorative. It gets hot there under all that sun!

  2. We love the Jefferson-Houston complex. This weekend we walked to the soccer games from Del Ray using the Potomac Yard Park trail to the trail between Braddock Road and King Street. It’s a great run/walk/bike ride!
