Parks and Rec: Old Town Pool

Parks and Rec: Old Town Pool

With Del Ray’s Warwick Pool temporarily closed for repairs, many of us are looking for alternate summer cooling options. Stepping in, one of our favorite summer spots, the Old Town Pool.

Thanks to a special new partnership, getting to the Old Town Pool is now a lot easier. More than 20 local businesses, along with the support of the USA Swimming Foundation – Make a Splash, are sponsoring free rides during July, August and through Labor Day weekend on DASH’s AT 10 route which runs from Potomac Yard to King St Metro making several stops along Mt Vernon and Commonwealth Avenues.

During the week, the pool is open from noon – 8 p.m. and on the weekend from noon – 7 p.m.  Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for kids. There is plenty of open space for kids to play, lap lanes and a diving board, all with views of the Masonic Temple and the fabulous new playground at Jefferson Houston School.

For the little ones, there’s also a wading pool (which starts at 1 1/2 feet and goes up to 3 feet deep), life jackets to borrow and an over-sized umbrella for shade.

We look forward to many fun afternoons and free rides to the Old Town Pool this summer!
