Groomsmen Gift Ideas for Your Best Men

Groomsmen Gift Ideas for Your Best Men

The high wedding season is upon us. To inspire those of you looking for gifts of appreciation for your go-to guys, we thought we’d feature some popular and unique groomsmen gifts that our friend and family have received over the years. Cufflinks are the gift that may first come to mind when you think of a groomsmen gift. Common they may be, but they are still a great option. John says he wears his all the time.

You also can’t go wrong with a nice bottle of bourbon, or top-shelf tequila, as my husband says he was more than happy to receive from an old friend.

One of John’s good friends came up with a personalized gift that John cherishes. Knowing how passionate John is about Civil War history, his friend found an atlas from the Civil War era and map from a famous battle to mat and frame.

Giving a groomsman a knife is quite common and in this case, John’s friend, a hunter of wild boar (seriously), gave each of his groomsmen an engraved Browning knife that John admires for its craftsmanship, but admits he will probably never use, not being an avid hunter himself.

Peter  also received an engraved knife, more of an all-purpose knife that he does use often. I recall that my brother gave his groomsmen Leatherman pocket tools. These are gifts you’ll have to mail ahead if you’re flying though; the TSA would most definitely seize them at the airport.

John’s friend (a fellow alum of the University of Virginia) bought all of his groomsmen matching ties and cummerbunds to wear in the wedding. He purchased them from a popular high-end clothing store in their college town called Vineyard Vines. It’s originally a Martha’s Vineyard store, but known well to University of Virginia (UVA) students, so it proved a fitting gift.

Also fitting was a UVA sweatshirt which John says is his most well-worn groomsmen gift by far.

Another common gift that stands the test of time is the classic monogrammed money clip. My husband Matt doesn’t use his often, but he values it highly and keeps it in a box with other personal souvenirs.

Do you have any favorite groomsmen gifts that you’ve received or given?
