A Lovely Day for a St. Patrick’s Day Parade
What’s one of the many reasons to love Alexandria? Parades, of course! From the Del Ray Halloween Parade to the Scottish Walk Parade, George Washington’s Birthday Parade and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Old Town, our city loves a good street performance. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which took place this past weekend (the first of many St. Patrick’s Day parades in the DC region), could possibly be my favorite. Here’s a few reasons why:
Bagpipes and marching bands galore.
Celtic dancers, some learning, some leading.
International performers with some pretty wacky costumes.
Shriners in their zippy little cars.
Dog friends of all shapes and sizes.
Folks passing out candy to wide-eyed children.
Local businesses along for the ride.
And friends helping friends.
‘Til next time!
Did you attend the parade? What was your favorite part?
