Oh Pinterest, You Had Me at Hello!

About a year ago I vaguely remember a co-worker of mine discussing this great site called Pinterest.  I made a mental note to go and see what all the fuss was about, but of course, like so many great mental notes I’ve made in the past, it never happened.

PinsomniaThat is, until I stumbled across it again about two months ago.  Holy smokes, I can’t get enough!

Not only can you search through other people’s inspirations on clothes, food, crafts, pictures, furniture, really anything,  you can also create your own inspiration boards and add “pins” to those boards every time you come across something on the world wide web that you don’t want to forget.

For those of you like me who have self-diagnosed themselves with slight OCD, this is perfect for you – everything in one place, categorized and easily searchable!

Everyone needs a little inspiration in their life  or, for me with a full-time job, husband, two kids, a little DIY Blog, and charity stuff, I need  A LOT of help in the inspiration department.

Here’s a little taste of some pretty spectacular pins to wet your whistle.

Who knew this chandelier could be a DIY Project? It’s made from a wire planter basket and pieces of wax paper ironed together to look like a capiz shell.

Or, if you’re like me and always looking for storage solutions, you’ll find awesome ideas like this suitcase storage unit.

Or just search unique storage and you’ll find these great examples below:

Amazing craigslist find - Surveyors cabinet.       Forks as Storage Solutions For a unique and organized display, attach decorative vintage forks to the wall to hold tickets, receipts, and business cards.      stair-storage

And my favorite find of the day is overlays for furniture.  Holla!  Answer to prayer in my book! Check out some of the awesome things you can do with overlays (all examples I found on pinterest of course). Below are some fab examples of using overlays that folks have posted on Pinterest.

ikea malm dresser goes glam (maybe mix it up by using the brown/black dresser and the white overlays as is)       Cool product - you purchase these overlays to turn plain furniture into something more modern and interesting.

My overlays.com. Add these fretwork overlays to inexpensive furniture to create a custom look.       cool overlays for redoing that plain dresser!

These overlays were created specifically for Ikea furniture but can definitely be used for other pieces as well.  Think about how amazing it’d look on a wall or a door or a mirror.  So many possibilities and I never would have known about it if it weren’t for good ‘ol Pinterest
